After much agonizing and shopping and finagling (and LOTS of help from Liz in the areas of bargaining and finance), I bought a "new" car Saturday to replace my old Escort--the 2002 PT Cruiser. See how shiny it is? You can see the clouds in the paint job (oooooh...) :) It was a decent deal, and within my budget (as it turns out). It's also a much cooler ride than the old car (or so I tell myself). It's got so many more bells and whistles than the old car that I've been reading the manual ever since I got it. I find a new feature that I didn't know about every day, it seems. By accidentally setting off the alarm while still at the dealership, I discovered that it has an alarm (!) and a remote start that I think must be aftermarket. That may come in handy this winter... I'll post more photos as they become available, but I wanted to at least share this little bit. Oh, it turns out that they may never find the guy who hit me--the license plate number that I gave them doesn't match the description of the truck. I'm thinking stolen license plate... That kinda sucks, but I'm just glad that I wasn't seriously injured and that the replacement process is nearly over. I still have to go back to the dealership to have them replace the battery in my keyless remote, and the taillight and turn-signal bulbs in the rear driver's side. I didn't notice they were out until I was driving that evening, since it was daylight when I bought it... I also need to remember to ask about how much spare keys cost, since I used to be notorious for leaving mine somewhere inconvenient...like in my purse...in the car...locked up for safekeeping... Hopefully, I'm over that phase now, but one can't be too careful...

We have a few of the PT.Criusers over here, but I'm afraid they don't do anything for me. Enjoy yours though!

Shiny! Pretty!

I know about the upgrade. I went from a bottom-of-the-line 1991 Toyota Corolla to 2000 Mazda 626 XL. Power windows and locks, keyless entry, air conditioning... the owner's manual became my friend. The only air conditioning in the Corolla was when you rolled the manual windows down...

Ah, yes, and let's not forget--now with added cicada guts! Going to meet Cari and the girls last night was like driving through a biblical plague of locusts... :)

Very nice. I'm kind of with John on the styling (although the front grill is nice), but I can tell you from experience of a rented one that they are surprisingly fun to drive, and the road visibility is excellent. You can stuff a lot of, um, stuff in the back too.

So congrats on the new vehicle! I thought of you when I saw one last night, in a natty two-tone paint job (silver bottom, midnight blue roofline up).
