So I went and voted today. I put on my red shirt (on purpose, 'cause I'm a registered Republican :) ) and headed down to the polling place. I had no problems, unlike some people I heard about on the call-in shows that I listen to, no one telling me that I couldn't vote because "it's a Democratic primary" (apparently at least one voter in Lexington was told that at their polling place). Once I got in the booth, I made a seriously last-minute change of plan in voting in the Presidential primary race--I voted for Mitt Romney. Now, some might call that a "wasted vote", since Mr. Romney has withdrawn from the race. I don't consider it wasted. I hope that Mr. McCain (the presumptive winner of the Republican primary) will take a good look at all the votes cast for those no longer in the race, and consider the message that we, the voters, are trying to send to him by voting for withdrawn candidates. I can't speak for all the others who did what I did (and I know that there were more of us), but I can tell you what my "message" to Mr. McCain is: "Mr. McCain, take a good, hard look at your policies and platform, and take some steps to become more of what a Republican is meant to be--conservative. Your penchant for trying to appeal to those outside of your party is costing you votes inside your party, where you may lose enough of us to lose the general election. It's not too late." /rant--for now...

In other news, some of my best friends just had their new baby, Lilly Ann. The photo above was taken yesterday, when she was about 2 hours old. She was 8 lbs. 12 oz., and just as cute as can be. Welcome to the world, Lilly Ann!

Republican and conservative aren't necessarily synonyms. They aren't mutually exclusive.

And...Yay for babies!!

Mog: As far as I know, neither Republicans nor Democrats bite (well, not hard anyway), so no worries there. I'm glad you're out of the slime and back online. :)
