I'm not sure if I've said it here or not, but I have been following the Presidential campaign with quite a bit of interest. In fact, I'm a bit of a talk radio junkie, truth be told. I listen to it most of the day on my headphones at work, and have a couple of favorite shows. I even call in or email the shows on a semi-regular basis, and the local hosts (and call screeners) know my voice by now. Anyway, I was listening today and was amazed and amused to hear that Barack Obama (whom I will not vote for) made a statement over the weekend that "foreign policy is the area where I am probably most confident that I know more and understand the world better than Senator Clinton or Senator McCain." Now, I don't have any more respect or intention to vote for Hillary than I do for Obama (and I'm not completely sure I'm even comfortable with a McCain presidency), but--really?! Obama, whose only real foreign experience includes living outside the country between the ages of 6 and 10, and having foreign relatives, thinks he knows more about foreign affairs than a veteran of a foreign war who spent 5.5 years in a POW camp, or even a former First Lady, who spent 8 years in the White House, hosting foreign diplomats and accompanying her (President!) husband on countless trips to other countries, specifically for the purpose of dealing with foreign policy matters. Oooookay...
