Boy, things are really heating up around here! Of course, I mean end-of-semester, OMG-it's-almost-finals-week-wise, NOT temperature-wise. As far as the temperature goes, it seems that we have finally let go of 70-degree days and must now embrace the chill. I'm not quite ready for that, I don't think, but ready or not, here it comes...

I basically tied myself to the computer all day yesterday, not even leaving the apartment, to get my last assignment done that's not associated with finals. I got a brief respite with a visit from The Jesse, coming to borrow my Christmas tree. I don't have the space or the inclination to put it up myself this year. Now, with that done, I have one final exam this week (which isn't really finals week), then four projects due the next week. How many of them are done, or even started? That would be a big, fat zero, but I'm ready to start and hopefully they will go fairly smoothly. The biggest hitch is that the computers at school are so slow as to be almost unusable for design, so most of the work will have to be done outside of class. It's really a shame to have a design program that has a reputation for being one of the best in the state, and not be able to get equipment that one could actually teach on.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna take things fairly easy today, although I might go in to work for a couple of hours to pick up some more money for my trip. I mentioned back in the fall that I am heading out between semesters for London, England, for two weeks in a study abroad program. I just got the syllabus a couple of days ago, and it is much more intensive a class than I had thought it would be. I thought, "It's only two weeks, how bad can it be?" Well, I just had to order three books, one of which has to be read entirely before the trip, and there's a 15-page research paper involved, that is to be turned in after we get back. Crap! I hate writing papers, although I'm usually pretty good at it. Mostly I hate anything that has a deadline of three months from now, because that usually means I will forget about it until the last minute. I'm feeling just a little bit suckered-in at this point, but I'm still looking forward to going. I hope that, once finals are over and I have some time to chill, that I will regain all of my enthusiasm. Right now, I've got a bit of a sinus thing going on, and it's making me a bit cranky, I think, so I'll sign off for now.
