Saturday, July 08, 2006 And now for something completely inane... I watched a trailer for a movie the other night that I really want to see. The movie is Barnyard, and it looks to be very funny. There's just one problem: of the 6 cows that are the main characters, 5 of them are "boy" cows. Not bulls, but cows that are male and voiced by men. In fact, the synopsis of the movie that appears on the website for the movie refers to the main character, Otis, as a male, and refers to his "father" Ben the cow. All of the cows have udders. Now I know that there are a lot of opportunities to suspend your disbelief in this movie (animals talking, animals standing upright, animals driving cars, etc.), but all of those things are, to a certain degree, "explained" in the movie. Male cows are NOT explained. That's just weird. I'm not sure why this has me bothered to the point of writing a post about it; I suppose it could be that I'm avoiding doing anything worthwhile, like housework or working on projects for class. I just had to get that off my chest.
