I was checking up on some last minute stuff before heading back to school next Monday, and I found two things that make me potentially happy. First, it appears that I don't have to buy any books for classes this semester. My Spanish class will be using the second half of the book we used last semester, and apparently the art classes just don't use textbooks. They didn't last semester, either. That's one expense off my mind. Second, speaking of expenses, I also checked my financial aid balance online, and it looks like the school has received my "award" (that's what they call it--I'm thinking it's a bit of a misnomer since most awards you don't have to pay back) for this semester. Which, I hope, means that I should be receiving a financial aid check for about $3,000 soon. Hopefully I'll get it before classes start, but more likely it'll be a couple more weeks. Surely I can fend off creditors for that long! Anyway, there's light at the end of the tunnel. (I'm laughing a little because there's a train track fairly close to my apartment, and I'm listening to a train whistle as I type this. So the old cliche about that light being the headlight of a oncoming train is rolling through my head...) I'm so excited for school to start. Just a few more days!
