Yay! It's my birthday! Woohoo. I'm feeling pretty tired this morning--I hope that goes away soon. I didn't sleep too well last night--I had minor traumas going on. I was sitting here last night after coming home from school and work, trying to unwind by surfing the blogs and all. I was in the middle of typing a comment when my smoke alarm went off. I had pulled a pizza out of the oven just a few minutes before, and I was a little confused because I distinctly remembered turning off the oven. Well, apparently my memory isn't as good as I thought it was. Evidently, instead of turning off the oven when I took out the pizza, I turned on one of the burners on the stove. The buttons are fairly close together, and I guess I just wasn't paying attention. Anyway, there was a spatula with a plastic handle lying on that particular burner, and when I got to the kitchen, said handle was in flames about 5 inches high. So, I managed to turn off the burner, get the spatula into the sink and put out with water. Then I had to open all the windows and turn on the fan in order to get all the smoke out of the apartment. It still smells kinda bad in here, but no real damage was done, except to that spatula. I think the small amount of melted plastic on the stove will scrape off the porcelain. But I had little flashback dreams and a bit of a headache last night from the smoke still left. So I'm dragging around a little bit. Plus there's the stress of not getting my homework done last night because my hands were shaking too bad to draw. Hopefully I can get some done today before class. I hate being late with stuff. This evening, some of the girls from my drawing class and I are going out to eat at Casa Fiesta in Richmond. We have developed this "ritual", as they call it, of going out to eat every Thursday night after we get out of class. And since it's my birthday, they're letting me pick where to eat. My choice seemed to make them happy. And now I'm gonna go make some coffee and start the ritual of waking up this morning! Wish me luck (with the coffee-making, that is)... posted by #Debi at 7:04 AM | permalink |
