I'm currently in the OWLS Lounge at EKU, waiting for class to begin. Usually I don't have this luxury of blogging during the day, but my 2-D Design teacher is in Lincoln, NE, at a printmaking conference, so that class is cancelled. That gives me a 2-hour window between my first class and my last, so I've been trying to keep myself occupied for the duration. I was even able to eat lunch today! Usually, I bring a Myoplex bar (kind of a protein meal replacement bar) with me on Tuesdays and Thursdays to keep me fueled.

I have managed to show my classmates yet again what a clutz I can be. On Tuesday, I decided to be a "hot shot" and bring one of my fancy new tools to class, a "hot knife" to cut the foam core we're using in 3-D Design. Well, a few minutes into using it, the knife attachment started to get loose and, being all absorbed in my work, I guess I forgot it was a hot knife. I grabbed the fitting with my index finger and thumb of my right to give it a twist and tighten it. Did I mention that it was a hot knife? I burned the crap out of myself, said a choice word or two, and flung the knife across the room. I ended up spending the rest of that class in the EKU infirmary. Funny thing about the infirmary: I noticed on almost every desk and table baskets of condoms, free for the taking. But when I asked the doctor for a couple of Tylenol to take with me in case I needed them before classes ended, she said she wasn't allowed to dispense medications. I was able to take some while I was there, but couldn't take any to go. What does it say about our priorities as a society when our public schools (even if it is college) can give out all the condoms you can use, but you can't get a Tylenol for genuine pain?! One of my classmates, when I told him this, jokingly said that maybe I could've taken the condom and rubbed it on my burns and that would've made them feel better. I told him that perhaps I should have a talk with him after class and explain the proper use of condoms to him! :^) Anyway, now I have huge oozing blisters on my thumb, index finger, and middle finger of my right hand. Good thing I'm left handed!

Things have been very hectic lately for me, with several art projects due all at once. I've been able to keep all the plates spinning, for the most part, but I really hope things let up soon. And they should, 'coz this weekend is "fall break", with Columbus Day and all. Maybe I can get some housework done soon!

Well, I'm noticing that it's getting close to time for my next class, so I'd best be hoofing it over to my classroom building. Later!
