So many things to tell, so little time! I finally can post another weight loss statistic: I lost another 3 pounds this week! That makes a total of 11 pounds lost so far. I have a feeling that part of the 3 pounds lost this week is due to the fact that my main staple this week has been chili that I made using a recipe from Eating for Life, the cookbook that goes along with the Body for Life program. I bought it last weekend and decided to make the chili for our monthly VBCC potluck, which was Tuesday. Unfortunately, several of our members were not there for various reasons, so I had about half of it left over. It was actually kind of a good thing for me, because I didn't have to cook or think about what to pack for lunch, just ladle some chili into a container and go. It's that "go" part that got me. Let's just say that when you eat chili two meals a day for a week, your digestive system becomes very...efficient. It was really good chili, though, I must say. I'm looking forward to finding other great recipes in that book. I had to crack up at the "definitions" in the back of the book, especially the glossary of cooking terms. In it are such terms as:

bake: This means to cook food in an oven. For best results, preheat the oven to the suggested temperature before putting in the food.

chill: This means to place food in the refrigerator until it's thoroughly cold.

drain: This is when you pour off liquid by putting the food, like pasta, into a strainer or colander that has been set in the sink.

mix: This means to stir ingredients together, typically with a spoon or fork.

toast: Browning food lightly in a toaster, oven, broiler, or skillet.

Oh, well, it is a cookbook written for jocks, by a jock.

I got a new toy this weekend. I haven't had much time to play with it yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing just what it'll do. It better do a lot--it's bigger than my monitor! I gotta figure out where I'm ultimately going to put it. My old Lexmark fit nicely on the 10" wide shelf located just above my monitor, but this new one will require an 18" deep shelf. I'm going to go to Lowe's at some point to see if there's one to fit my shelf brackets and give it a try. In the meantime, it's here taking up half my desk. Maybe it'll make my desk easier to keep clean, at any rate.

Well, I'm noticing that it's after 8, and I still haven't done any housework. That's probably not going to happen tonight. Oh, well--c'est la vie....
