I've been meaning to get on here and post some impressions from the VC AllGroup thing, but I've been slightly ill (respiratory infection, turns out), and still working the OT, so there really hasn't been time. I want to do it justice, though, so I'm gonna wait until I have more than just a couple of minutes to do it in.
I wanted to post a couple of interesting things I got in the email this morning. I've read in a couple of blogs (and heard in conversation) by Presbyterian types, mention of "the five points" of Christianity. Not being brought up "high church", I really didn't know what those were. They are incorporated into today's CQOD. Turns out it's basically the Apostles' Creed, but I thought I'd list them here for posterity:
1. That the Holy Spirit did so inspire, guide and move the
writers of the Holy Scriptures as to keep them from error. 2. That our Lord Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary. 3. That Christ offered up himself a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice and to reconcile us to God. 4. That on the third day He rose again from the dead with the same body with which He suffered, with which also He ascended into Heaven, and there sitteth at the right hand of His Father, making Intercession. 5. That Our Lord Jesus showed His power and love by working mighty miracles. This working was not contrary to nature, but superior to it.
The other thing I thought to share comes from today's A Word A Day email. They usually put an interesting quote at the end of the email, and here's today's:
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." ~Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948)
