Wow. It's been a week since I've written in here. I'm sitting here in the middle of a big windstorm, with tornado warnings out all around us until later this evening. There's no rain or anything yet, and I've obviously still got power at this point, but it sounds awful outside. Of course, I'm on the third (top) floor, so it always sounds worse up here. I've had a nasty sinus headache all day, brought on, no doubt, by the fact that it's been a fantastic weekend, temperature-wise. I was glad for Alan's sake that it was a great weekend for his leadership retreat. Liz and I (OK, mostly Liz) put up "the bell" on their deck while Alan was gone and surprised him coming home by ringing it when we saw his car coming. We've still got a bug or two to work out on getting it to work properly (Alan thinks ball bearing grease or something will cure the fact that it sticks in its cradle), but with a little work it rings nicely even now.

I haven't written in so long mostly because we've had lots of overtime at work this past week. I worked an extra 2 hours every night last week and 5 1/2 hours on Saturday. Consequently, I felt like doing absolutely nothing this weekend, apartment maintenance-wise. So I did nothing. I went to Liz's last night, since Alan was out of town, and we watched "Chocolat", one of my new favorite movies. Just watching that movie makes you want to find the most decadent chocolate shop and buy one of each. I find some great spiritual parallels in the movie, also, especially about not shutting out those who are different than you. There's a line at the end from the vicar character that goes something like, "Christianity isn't about what you abstain from or who you exclude, but about what you embrace and who you include." That isn't it, exactly, but the gist of it. I highly recommend the movie.

I have been template-shopping in the last week, also. Alan's been helping me with telling me what will work for me and what won't, and is supposed to show me how to put images in here. Hopefully I'll have a new look for The Scriptorium for my birthday. (It's coming up soon, you know, only 8 more shopping days left!)

God, I'll be 42 next week! Someone famous once said, "If I'd known I was going to live this long, I might have taken better care of myself!" I know how he feels. But, I guess while I have breath, it's never too late to start. Gold's Gym is working out a mega-discount plan for ACS employees, and I plan to check it out. I'm pretty sure I'm going to join. There are some details I need to check out before signing anything, though. There was a "free night" on Friday for ACS employees to check out the gym, but by the time I got off work, I was so exhausted that my brain just couldn't handle anything else.

Well, that's about it for now. Not much going on lately, really, just workin' and workin'. But, hey, Christmas is coming, and I have nieces and a nephew. 'Nuff said?
