I went in to work today to do a little overtime, and for the first 2 hours the computers were down. There was nothing we could do but just sit there until someone came in who knew how to fix the problem, so I just sat there twiddling my thumbs, catching up on paperwork, playing computer solitaire, etc, until I remembered that I keep a Bible in my desk drawer and this would be a good time to do a little Bible reading. I wasn't sure where I would begin, but decided to just open up to where the bookmark was and start from there. Have you ever read a Scripture and, even though you know you've read it a hundred times before, you see it as if you'd never picked up a Bible before? That's what happened today. I opened to John 15 and read the entire chapter, slowly digesting each verse as it came. Several verses jumped out at me, like verse 3, which says, "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you." See, we start out clean, as soon as we hear and accept the Word which is spoken to us by God! When we become Christians, we don't have to clean ourselves up before God will accept us; God accepts us already, justified by the fact that we desire a relationship with Him. The "cleaning up" of the outward stuff comes as we journey through life in fellowship with the One who cleanses. Our spirit is clean from the moment of acceptance. Pretty cool!
